Who is Amillson Baragus?

Amillson Baragus; aka Mel, is a scuba diving Instructor by profession. He lives in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. A partner/co-owner of an ICT company based in Sarawak and Sabah (states of Malaysia) on the big island of Borneo.AmillsonBaragus

  • Certified as PADI Open Water Diver in September 1995,
  • Divemaster in May 1998
  • Open Water Scuba Instructor in October 1999.
  • Instructor Level: Currently holding the rating of Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) with 8 Specialty Credentials.

He has spent the past 13 years in the diving industry. During those years, he held various posts as:

  • Underwater Videographer: filming and productions
  • Dive Master: guide & lead divers on leisure dives
  • Dive Instructor: guiding & teaching scuba diving courses
  • Dive Supervisor: Supervising all aspects of daily dive operations
  • Resort Manager: Managing the whole operation of an island dive resort
  • Business owner: Currently managing my own business and posting more articles to this blog.

He has logged more than 4000 dives; excluding teaching. His previous students came from all over the world, from all sorts of backgrounds but share the same interest: scuba diving.

PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) database shows that he has certified a few hundreds of students from Discover Scuba Diving (aka resort course), Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster and specialty diver courses.
