Divers will have more water to dive in while the world is sinking as the Arctic and Antarctica ice is melting every single second
This is the presented fact, out of a new study, which indicates that Arctic temperatures suddenly increased during the last 50 years of the period from A.D. 1 to the year 2000.
A report by environmental group of WWF recently stated that because of the global warming in the Arctic, a quarter of the world’s population will be affected through flooding and amplify the wider impact of climate change.
This is not even good news for divers as we can see the implications it will bring us all – the global catastrophe is in the making – not more water to dive in. Many tropical island resorts will vanish forever. It is just a matter of time.
There are findings that provide more evidence that humans – that’s us, divers and non-divers – are influencing climate change due to the fact that warming occurred all of a sudden during the 20th century while atmospheric greenhouse gases were accumulating. It is called arctic amplification; this phenomenon is caused by increases in the Arctic’s absorption of the sun’s heat by dark land and exposed ocean as Arctic ice and snow melt away.
So, why are the scientific studies concentrates more in the Arctic and Antarctica to get the answers? This is because the Arctic and Antarctica are perhaps the most sensitive area of the Earth to the human factors that influence climate change.
What have we come to? What have we done to associate flooding of coastal regions that will eventually affect more than a quarter of the world’s populations?
This is a big problem; it’s a global problem. I guess we will be more worry about moving our families and belongings towards higher ground. Some big cities will be flooded and divers could be making their leisure dives exploring “lost cities” around the world instead. Personally, as a writer of this article, I don’t find any funny or entertaining side of these scientists’ findings. The facts are actually quite scary for us and our future generations.
Please watch the following videos: think of what we can do to stop global warming. Or at least to slow down the process.
